“The Hut” as it was called, was the pilot’s leisure centre in Abbotsford proper. The building itself was donated by Abbotsford real estate owners and up kept by donations. Most weeks had at least one event going on at the Hut, be that a dance, a trivia night, or some other party or competition. This was a place where trainee pilots and Abbotsford citizens interacted directly, however the citizens were still fully expected to be the gracious hosts, the goal was to entertain the pilots. As much as the pilots accounts of the place are glowingly positive, one wonders if the townsfolk ever got tired of this duty thrust on them by an expecting government.
